Treasury Department Invites Comment on OMB Information Collection Submissions
Multiple departmental offices seeking Paperwork Reduction Act clearance through July 30 comment period
The Department of the Treasury has published a notice in the Federal Register announcing the submission of multiple information collection requests to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and clearance under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA).
The notice, published June 30, 2026 (FR Doc. 2026-13201), covers multiple departmental offices and invites public comment. Under PRA requirements, the public has until July 30, 2026 to submit comments on the proposed information collections.
Under the Paperwork Reduction Act, federal agencies must obtain OMB approval before collecting information from the public. The review process includes a public comment period to assess necessity, burden, and accuracy of proposed collections.
For government contractors, PRA notices are directly relevant when a company is subject to reporting requirements, recordkeeping mandates, or data submission obligations tied to a federal contract or grant. Approved information collections also define what agencies may legally require contractors to report, making the comment period an opportunity to flag unreasonable burden estimates or unclear requirements before they are finalized.
Comments must be submitted to OMB's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs through the channels specified in the notice and must be received on or before July 30, 2026.
